What I've Become

 

This installation is made of prints, a 3d self-portrait, a map of my heart and a the one thing I regret most. All these piece express who I am inside and how I have gotten to where I am now. My heart is full of emotion and my heart map show my heart is full of different emotions, every continent, a different set of emotions. For the armature of my s that main piece, I chose wire because I felt it was the best material to use for what I wanted to accomplish.  I simply used paper mache for my skin in order get a kind of skin texture that I wanted. My prints and pieces of art I placed in my installation all represent me in some way and the journeys I have gone through.

 

 

I chose a set color scheme and drew a quick sketch of a picture I took of myself accidentally. It was fun to draw with a set color scheme instead of making it up as I go along. I find myself looking to capture an event in the moment, and so as I go on to draw more, I prefer to draw someone in the act, similar to this. 

 This medium of oil pastels was new to me, and at first, I hated them. They were hard to work with and difficult to maneuver. This was my last attempt with the medium, and this with when I felt like I was understanding how they worked. I used different mark making techniques in a single piece and tried to manipulate the colors into doing what I wanted. In the end, I was proud of the work I did, being as I had never used the medium before. 

 This image came before the previous one. I am also proud of this one because I can see the mastery emerging from the image. It is exciting to see myself grow in this one compared to the others before this. I also really like the color scheme of this one. It quite nice. I love the reds and oranges and yellows. It's cool and fun. 

 

After making my own short gif during the summer, I wanted to try again, and then here came along this one. He was a little simpler, yet more though out. This character is from ubisoft, and is not of my creation. 

I am proud of this for two reasons, and one is my use of water color. I have not used water color too much, and yet I am in love with the medium. I am also proud because this is not simply a vampire but an original character of mine that I have really taken a liking too. He is very fun to play around with and is often in my sketchbook. I will try and hopefully strive to make a web-comic, staring him and his sweet father and boyfriend.

This art is by Max Qin, and his art amazes me. He is an illustrator and concept artist and works for Ubisoft on the Assassin's Creed franchise. I love the games, and his art. I buy Assassin's Creed art books just to get his art in my hands on nice laminated paper. You can sometimes see the simple strokes of the brush in his art, and yet you can still understand what it is as a whole. I love it.
